Coding with Kodable
Last week we learned about coding and what computer programmers do. I asked the students the question, "Who is smarter? A person or a computer?" Almost everyone thought that computers are smarter than us. We learned that people are actually much smarter than computers! In fact, computers
can’t do anything without the people who are telling them what to do.
The people who tell computers what to do are called programmers. A programmer is a person that writes the code (language) that tells the computer what to do. We also learned that code is the language that programmers use and create to tell computers what to do.
To learn how to code, we are using the app Kodable, a fun app that teaches kids how to program using code.
On Monday, a blue paper with a Kodable login was sent home. If you download Kodable at home on a computer, smart phone or tablet, you can input the code and your child can continue coding at home!
Please let me know if you have any trouble logging in. Thanks for reading!

Free App Friday Starfall
Hey there! Today is the start of free app Friday! Today's free app is Starfall. We have Starfall installed on our class set of iPads and we also go on it in the computer lab each week. There is a paid home version of it for $35 and there is also a free version. Obviously the paid version has more features, but the free version is good, too.
App: Starfall
Standards it addresses: More like what standards doesn't it address...there are games for letters, sounds, phonics, math, colors, shapes and even easy readers.
Why I love it: The kiddos love it and are so excited when they get to play it.
